WHO WE ARE

Uganda American Catholic Organization, Inc. (UGAMCO) is an organization of Ugandan Catholics and their American friends in the USA and Canada.   We are a non-profit  corporation registered in the District of Columbia and tax-exempt under Section 501c(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Services.

AMONG OUR MAIN ACTIVITIES ARE:

• To pray and work together in support of the Catholic Church in Uganda;
• To maintain and strengthen our faith and families.

UGAMCO IS COMMITTED TO PROMOTE THE FOLLOWING:

• To unify Ugandan American Catholics in the USA and Canada via Strengthening their faith, identifying mutual support, and reaching out in charity to the needy.
• To mobilize and solicit resources to assist the Catholic Church and its mission programs in Uganda.
• To promote cooperation between the Catholic Church in Uganda and Ugandan American Catholics in the USA and Canada.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Ugandan American Catholic Organization is the commitment to promote an atmosphere of mutuality and collaboration between the Ugandan Catholic Church and members and associates of the UGAMCO.  To fulfill this mission, UGAMCO taps on the cooperation and generosity of the Catholic communities and beyond.  As a charitable organization, the UGAMCO raises funds and resources, in the spirit of the Gospel and according to the Social Teaching of the Catholic Church.  UGAMCO intends to help people in Uganda to enable them to help themselves.

ACTIVITIES

In pursuit of this mission, UGAMCO resolves to give witness to the mandate of Jesus Christ of loving one another by responding to spiritual and human needs in the following ways:

• By tenaciously and actively keeping our Catholic Faith alive.
• By helping those it serves to safeguard their dignity and self-esteem.
• By taking special interest in helping Ugandan parents successfully face the challenges of raising-up children in the USA environment.
• By reflecting on the challenges of diversity of the communities we live in.
• By contributing towards eradication of ignorance, hunger, diseases and poverty in Uganda.
• By providing opportunities for vocational training, education and international exchange programs.
• By promoting public awareness and understanding of the problems of Uganda through education and communication.
• By fostering the capacit to care for one another, connecting resources to programs which help people to fulfill their moral responsibilities in alleviating human suffering, promote social justice and development.
• By participating in the Social, Educational, Economic and Evangelical programs of the Ugandan Catholic Church.

PURPOSE
